Calvert - Income Investing - Money Market Funds

Maintaining an "emergency" savings fund. Saving for a home. Putting money aside for college. They're all times when you might want to earn a higher level of current income than you can expect from a traditional savings account - but you don't want to expose your money to market fluctuations.

Money market mutual funds can be an appropriate investment for these and other goals. The funds seek to maintain a consistent net asset value of $1.00 per share by investing in short-term corporate and government debt.  However, please note that investment in a money market fund is neither insured nor guaranteed by the US government. There is no assurance that a money market fund will be able to maintain a net asset value of $1.00 per share.

However, historically money market funds have provided greater stability than other asset classes, and these funds give you immediate access to your money, check-writing privileges, and other conveniences.

Talk with your financial advisor to determine which of the Calvert money market funds may be most appropriate given your investment objectives:

Calvert First Government Money Market Fund
This fund seeks to earn the highest possible yield consistent with safety, liquidity, and preservation of capital. The Fund invests solely in debt obligations that are:

- Issued or guaranteed by the US government, its agencies or instrumentalities,
- Assignments of interest in these issues, or
- Commitments to purchase US government-backed obligations.

This Fund may invest in US government-backed obligations subject to repurchase agreements with recognized securities dealers and banks. Please note that an investment in this Fund is not insured or guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) or any other government agency.  Although the Fund seeks to preserve the value of your investment at $1.00 per share, it is possible to lose money by investing in the Fund.

Calvert Social Investment Fund (CSIF) Money Market Portfolio (CSIXX)
Investors concerned with environmental, social, and corporate governance responsibility may be particularly interested in this money market fund. Calvert's screening process helps to identify investments with strong management and solid business practices. We believe such companies are well positioned for long-term success. The Portfolio seeks to maintain a net asset value of $1.00 per share. However, please note that an investment in this Fund is not insured or guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) or any other government agency.  Although the Fund seeks to preserve the value of your investment at $1.00 per share, it is possible to lose money by investing in the Fund.

Calvert Tax-Free Reserves Money Market Portfolio (CTMXX)
The Fund seeks to earn the highest level of interest income exempt from federal income taxes as is consistent with prudent investment management and preservation of capital.
